New Science Homework Due November 25th

Homework assigned: Monday, November 18th.
Homework due: Monday, November 25th.

Since there were about twelve students who needed to stay in on Friday at recess to complete overdue homework, we thought it would be a good idea to post this week's homework to the blog, as well as continue to write the homework assignment in the agenda.

For this week’s homework, students will complete research on five trees found in the local environment. Specifically, students will find information for two coniferous and two deciduous trees located on a Google Doc shared by the teacher. Also, they will complete research on one of the listed cultivated species that is also in the Google Doc. The Google Doc is titled, "Alberta Trees HW". Students will need to open this document and then create their own copy. In the title, they will need to add their name (e.g. "John Alberta Trees HW").

Students, please refer to the Lodgepole Pine example completed in the Google Doc for guidance on quality and quantity expectations. The Lodgepole Pine will be the one tree you will not be able to research, since it's already completed. You should average approximately four notes per category. The notes should be detailed and in your own words. You need to be prepared to further explain your collected information to others. If you are having trouble finding information for a specific category, ask your parents for help. All categories need to be accurately completed.

In total, you will have five trees completed on your saved Google Doc.

Parent questions to ask his/her child:
- Can you show me the "Alberta Trees HW" shared document?
- What deciduous and coniferous trees are you going to research?
- Do you have one cultivated tree selected?
- Do you have five trees selected in total?
- Have you started finding the information? Can you show me the websites that you think will help you gather the information?
- Can we try doing a research note together? How are we going to write it in our own words? Do we need to use a dictionary for any of the words?
- Did you organize your week's homework so you will have it completed by next Monday?
- What does your week plan look like for this Science homework? (I heard you worked on organizing your schedule in class.)
